Death
Star Grill
This was the inspiration for my project that I first saw on
Geekologie.com.
If you haven't been to
Geekologie.com,
you should. It's awesome!
Anyways, after seeing this I thought I could do one better. So I did.
The basic idea was to have a working grill that looked like the Death
Star and could actually cook something.
I started with two Weber grills and used the bottom portions because
they were fairly spherical. I welded up the stand and fabricated the
vent systems (there is a vent on the bottom also). The inside is
painted in barbecue paint so it is safe to cook with. The outside is
painted in engine enamel so it should be good to 500 degrees.
I know it isn't perfect but it was a fun project.
The Death Star Grill has since been sold to a lucky person on the
east coast. Thank you to everyone who showed interest in my project and
I hope to have another up in the near future. You can still email me if
you have questions
